Spa Day at the Lensbury Club
Spa Day at the Lensbury Club
Lucy and Ella escape for a mother and daughter spa day at The Lensbury club in Teddington for a special treat.
The stately period building was an impressive sight as we drove into the circular driveway of The Lensbury Club. We were looking forward to spending the day together and exploring the private members club for our special mother and daughter spa day.
We chose our coffees from the vibrant cafe menu offering a choice of hot drinks, healthy snacks and food that remarkably instantly appealed to both of us with our different tastes. We couldn’t resist the fruit smoothies for a healthy boost to kick-start our morning.
The sun was shining and the Thames glistened as we strolled the long way through the expansive Lensbury Club grounds towards the swimming pool, spa and fitness gym. My daughter had a session booked with a gym instructor specialising in teen fitness before lunch, so with an hour to spare we headed to the pool and spa.
The bright and airy swimming facilities have two heated pools, a children’s one and a larger swimming pool that comfortably accommodates lane and leisure swimmers. The pool space is bright and airy thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows with views over green lawns and trees stretching out to the picturesque river.
The spa suite is accessible from the pool, offering a neat sauna and steam room duo, hot or cool shower and rest area. Being next to the pool you can dive back in to cool down after showering and top up again in the spa. Serving hotel guests, spa-trippers, families and adult members, the pool area is designed to be multi-functional and there’s plenty of space for everyone.
There is a strong focus on families at the club, from day clubs to a wide variety of activities and ample mixed changing rooms. We dived into the female changing rooms with beauty desks and lights. Perfect for mother daughter pampering and heading to the gym afterward.

My daughter has been planning to join a gym, so the teenage gym instruction on offer was the ideal opportunity for her to find her feet and learn how to use the machines. The gym instructor was young and enthusiastic, expertly showing her round the equipment and exercise options, empowering my daughter to become confident in the gym.
This gave me time to complete a cross-training work out. The spacious and well-equipped gym was bustling with energy and motivation, enthusing us to keep going. My daughter chose a speed walking exercise on the running machine whilst I hit the mat for some strength-building exercises in the circular gym room, basking in the relaxing views from the tall windows.
We felt we’d earned our lunch at the restaurant. The day was warm enough to dine al fresco, so we soaked up the surroundings whilst ordering drinks and browsed the menu. A pink glass of bubbles arrived – Wild Idol sparkling rose was by far the best non-alcoholic wine I’ve tasted; the perfect lunchtime treat that wouldn’t compromise our afternoon. With food choices to suit both teenage taste buds and a low carb diet, we both relaxed and enjoyed our beautifully presented lunch. Our waitress was super helpful and attentive and our food lived up to expectations, generously satisfying hunger from our morning workouts.
For our pamper afternoon, we had booked with a double massage in the health and beauty spa clinic. The room was ambiently serene with two beds beautifully presented, inviting us to lie down and relax. It was special to experience this together and be there with my teenager during her first treatment. We felt really looked after and hosted by the team at the spa clinic.
We ended with another smoothie in the cafe as we wanted to finish our day as well as it had started. The Lensbury Club offers that out-of-town experience but is only a few minutes’ drive from the centre of Kingston. Once you are there, you are transported to a tranquillity away from the hustle of city life – perfect for a spa break with that special person in your life.
