To celebrate English Wine Week from 20 to 28 June, we’ve picked out some of our favourite local wineries to visit. From tastings to trail tours, check out these top 5 vineyards near London for a day trip…

Denbies Wine Estate

Denbies Wine Estate has been making wine since 1986. The vineyard not only offers tours and tastings but also brunch every weekday at their estate hotel, in addition to a sparkling afternoon tea. There’s also a vineyard ‘train’ tour through the idyllic grounds.

Godstone Vineyards

Visit the winner of the 2023 Independent English Wine Award, Godstone Vineyards. The vineyard offers tours every Saturday for the rest of the summer, in addition to a charcuterie board for guests. They even have mac and cheese if you want to bring your little ones along.

High Clandon

What hits the spot like sparkling wine? Nothing. We love a visit to High Clandon’s multi-gold award-winning vineyard in Surrey Hills. Currently running is Art & Sculptures in the Vineyard (28 June – 12 July) with over 200 works of art shown in the wildflower meadows, gardens, and Glass Barn. The event helps raise funds for Cherry Trees charity.

Albury Vineyard

A slate of events is offered at the organic Albury Vineyard, under an hour’s trip from London. The vineyard provides experiences for everyone, and include wine tasting, hiking, beekeeping, you name it! Albury’s activities also cater to families, showing that they’re more than just a vineyard.

Chilworth Manor Vineyard

Contemporary wine meets history at Chilworth Manor Vineyard in the Surrey Hills. The estate was owned by nobles, duchesses, monks, pilgrims, and more. Now, you can visit the vineyard that rests on the timeless property. Chilworth Manor provides a variety of things to do, from tours and tastings to live music sessions on Friday nights. It’s the perfect place to escape busy suburban life and get a taste of history and wine.
