Overlooking the tranquil banks of the River Thames, The Lensbury Club has a spectacular position by Teddington Lock. Complete with a water sports centre, motorboat and canoe hire, the club now also offers a floating sauna experience.
This hidden gem near London is just a few miles from Kingston, but when you step through the doors of The Lensbury Club, you are instantly transported from the bustle of the city into the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of a stylish country club.
A stroll past the outdoor dining terrace and across the expansive park and sports grounds will take you to the watersports area where the Temz floating sauna platform {link www.temzfloatingsaunas.com} is moored to the riverside.
Picturesque views both upstream and downstream make the floating sauna an idyllic location to spend an hour socially with friends whilst reaping the benefits that hot and cold therapy bring. Saunas increase blood flow and circulation whilst cold water therapy reduces muscle soreness and stimulates recovery. Combining both can reduce inflammation and improve sleep, metabolism and longevity. It’s no wonder sports enthusiasts are also adopting it for faster recovery.

The Lensbury Temz sauna is infused with herbs giving a delicious forest aroma as you sweat it out in 85-degree heat and soak up the stunning views from inside the sauna. The gentle rocking of the platform keeps you mindful of being on the river and adds a relaxing dimension to the experience. A quick outdoor shower is recommended before plunging into one of the invigorating icy cold baths. At 9 degrees it instantly chills your system. The baths are magnificently positioned looking upstream so if you can manage to stay in for two minutes you will be well rewarded by the benefits.
We enjoyed three rounds of alternating between the sauna and ice baths. Apart from a few squeals getting into the ice bath, the outdoor submersion in nature makes this a deeply relaxing and invigorating sauna experience. Visitors are treated to a warm offering of ginger and lemon tea to wrap up the session before using the Lensbury sports facilities to shower and change.
Temz has been set up by local husband and wife duo, Amy and Eddy, who are growing their business and have another location up the river at the Mitre in Hampton Court, too.
