Review: Facial Treatment at Clarins Wimbledon
Walking into Elys Wimbledon, I was ready to learn a bit more about my skin. I was headed to the Clarins corner, where I had an appointment with Lakshini for a facial treatment, to try out some of their popular skincare products and enjoy a half hour in the chair.
The treatment began with a light touch of Cleansing Micellar Water to remove surface impurities. Enriched with organic yellow gentian and lemon balm extracts to soothe and soften the skin, it was a soft and hydrating start to the treatment, wiped off with cotton pads and leaving my skin feeling immediately fresher already.
Next came the Velvet Cleansing Milk, a very slightly heavier, though still incredibly gentle, cream to remove make-up from the face, eyes and lips. This milk was incredibly effective at removing all traces of make-up while being refreshingly non-invasive and delicate on the skin.
Following this was the Hydra Essential [HA²] mask, applied to the face and left for 15 minutes before removal. Enriched with hyaluronic acids and ceramides, this mask left my skin feeling incredibly hydrated and had a fresh, velvety creamy texture that felt soft and smooth on my face. Lakshini explained that this mask is best used twice a week and works with all skin types.
We moved on to one of Clarins’ current star products: the Double Serum, a popular formula designed to target the signs of ageing. Its unique dual formula, made up of 95% naturally-sourced ingredients, combines 22 powerful plant extracts, including the iconic turmeric extract, with 5 new pure active molecules to stimulate the skin’s 5 vital functions. It also has unique Epi-ageing Defence technology which targets the signs of ageing linked to lifestyle-induced ageing. The serum left my skin feeling fresh, firm and radiant. The best part? There is now one especially for the eyes too, specifically targeting the eye contour area. I noticed immediate results with this one: my under-eyes were smoother and less puffy, and the skin felt immediately softer and firmer.
Next was the Hydra Essential Moisturising Day Cream SPF15+, which felt great with a gentle and silky texture that wasn’t too overwhelming like other moisturisers I have tried. The final touch was Clarins’ top offering for the unreasonably hot summer we’re having: UV Plus Anti-Pollution Translucent Sunscreen SPF50+. As someone with incredibly fair skin I am always looking for a strong face suncream that doesn’t feel too heavy on my face while offering maximum protection, and this delivered that perfectly.
A great treatment that left my skin feeling fresh and looking luminous. Lakshini was lovely and very informative. I would recommend it to anyone – you can pop in for a 30 minute treatment that feels as good as a spa day, and browse some fab products while you’re at it.
