Paranormal and horror writer Charlie Hall, director Jem Karto, producer Owain Rhys Dain and team, were selected for the ‘Best Cinematography’ Award at the final Rob Knox London Film Festival 2025 for their short horror film ‘Lake on The Cabin’ (Monster Club/Odd Pictures).
The film is a chilling psychological horror that follows a fragile artist’s retreat to a secluded wooden cabin by a mysterious lake. As her artistic inspiration spirals into madness, she must confront her deepest fears and the malevolent presence that lurks within, blurring the line between reality and nightmare.
The film was officially selected for screening alongside ten other short films for the festival held at Picturehouse Central in Shaftsbury Avenue on Saturday 6th September. The event was hosted by Film Director Aaron Truss, (Pareidolia, (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story) and the award was presented to them by legendary British horror illustrator Graham Humphreys.
Charlie Hall said of the win: ‘’We were thrilled that our film was being screened at such an amazing and important event as The Rob Knox Film Festival and had no idea that we were going to receive an award. When Graham called our film name out, we were ecstatic, and I was so surprised that I froze and couldn’t say anything!”

The renowned festival started in 2009 to honour the legacy of actor Rob Knox, who was murdered in a knife attack shortly after appearing in ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ as the character Marcus Belby. It has run for 16 years and given many promising young filmakers a platform to showcase their work to the industry. This year marked the festival’s final year.
‘’It’s incredibly sad the festival has had to end, and we are so blessed and grateful to have been a part of it,” said Charlie. “I’d like to say a big thank you to Aaron, Rob’s parents and all the team, not just for our award but for all the years of dedication and hard work they’ve put in to educate and inspire youths to help with the ongoing fight against knife crime.”
