Film Director Jake West Re-Releases his Classic 90’s movie

Award-winning film director and writer Jake West has worked extensively in the film and television industry for over 30 years and is well known for his movies in the horror fantasy and sci-fi genres. His impressive filmography includes: Razor Blade Smile (Manga/Palm Pictures), with scream queen Eileen Daly, Doghouse (Sony Entertainment/Vertigo), featuring Danny Dyer, and Evil Aliens (Universal).
Born in London, Jake successfully graduated with a B.A Honours in Film and Video at West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham. A passionate film connoisseur who also owns Barnes-based independent distribution label, Nucleus Films.
In 1998, Jake released his highly acclaimed independent cult horror, ‘Razor Blade Smile’, an action packed film about revenged vampire Lilith Silver (Eileen Daly), who is wounded in her past but saved by death. After 25 years Jake has fully restored and re released the film in 4k as a 3 disk Blu-ray collection with hours of material including a new feature length documentary, Vampires Forever, which explores the evolution of vampire cinema and its influence on UK alternative culture in the ’90s.

“Revisiting the film after all this time has been strangely emotional and incredibly energising. It’s like looking back through a lens and seeing that younger version of myself still burning with the same fire. There’s a kind of silent approval there, a reminder that choosing the unconventional path, the creative one, was absolutely the right call, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” says Jake West.
Adds Eileen Daly: ”I’m proud of Jake because he spent such a long time doing this and I’m very proud of it. With the new documentary, it’s got legs and hopefully it will go all over the world.”
There’s also plenty of interviews with the likes of Inside No 9′s, Reece Shearsmith, Borley Rectory and Uncanny’s Ashley Thorpe, Aaron Truss from (K)nox:The Rob Knox Story and Surrey’s paranormal writer and researcher Charlie Hall.
”I was thrilled that Jake asked me to be a part of this special project, especially being very much into the vampire scene growing up. I saw the film in my teens and loved it. Eileen was stunning as Lilith and Jake has done an amazing job with the restoration and putting this fantastic collection together,” says Charlie.
