Here’s how you can embrace 2025

Here’s how you can embrace 2025

We’re welcoming in the new year with a whole host of ideas for how to make the most of the next 365 days and beyond…

New Year resolutions serve their purpose but if they’ve fallen by the wayside come the end of January it can leave you feeling disappointed and guilty if you’ve not been able to stick to them. Often it can be because they are over-ambitious or they’ve been all about depriving yourself… so read on for some inspirational ideas that aim to nourish both body and soul…

Winter warmers

Don’t even think about the dreaded D word. Diets don’t last. Instead, make it about choosing foods full of vitamins and nutrients. You deserve goodness! Steaming bowls of soups are just the thing for a cold winter day… stack them with veggies and pulses. It will also smell delicious. Have some ready on the hob for after a bracing walk around the park.

Brace the cold

Okay, a January day is hardly inspiring but if you can round up some friends or family, then a blustery walk will blow away the cobwebs. We have loads of gorgeous winter walks here . Go first thing in the morning if you can to help make the most of the daylight. Keep the walking habit going year-round by signing up with a local Walk & Talk, where you can combine exercise with being sociable.

Make mental health a priority

Talking to others is vital for your mental wellbeing. Check in on your own mental health and of those around you. A chat can make a world of difference, and it need not be a close friend or family. Counselling, once you’ve found the right approach for you, can be hugely beneficial, as can volunteering, taking up a new hobby, mindfulness and exercise such as yoga and Pilates. Learning a new skill or trying a new sport can also work wonders – horse-riding, clay-pigeon shooting, squash, indoor climbing...

Here's the ultimate round-up of all the best events!

Move the dial

Maybe a new career is on your list for 2025. Look at how you can take a step each day to reach your goals. It can be daunting if you try to tackle too much at once but daily achievable targets will keep you motivated and they will soon stack up by the end of the year. Maybe Day 1 is to update your LinkedIn profile, Day 2 to make a few useful contacts. Or if you aspire to write a book, join a creative writing group.

Sort out the fundamentals

It can be all too easy to put off sorting out areas of your life such as personal finance and pensions so, again, break it down into manageable goals. Book in with advisors who can help you reach your financial goals. You’ll also feel a lot better once they are sorted. So reward yourself

Take time for self-care

Have a reward in mind for when you’ve reached some of your milestones for the year. A spa day, a theatre trip, comedy night, a day racing sports cars, whatever you enjoy. But it’s also important to take that time out for yourself anyway, goals reached or not, remember to put your own oxygen mask on first. Wishing you a happy, healthy and productive 2025!
