We tried out a pedicure at the new Kingston salon
Having just started a yoga class, rather than concentrating on my cobra pose, I found myself contemplating feet – and how lovely other people’s toes looked with their pretty polish and smooth heels. Mine had been hidden away for the winter. So, I paid a visit to Arturo on Kingston’s Richmond Road. This new salon offers treatments for men and women, ranging from facials and laser hair removal to micro-needling and manis and pedis.
The family team have over 25 years’ combined experience at top clinics and salons in London. Facials are tailored to each client and include a ‘decongest’ facial and ‘lifting and plumping’. The salon’s back cleanse is also becoming a popular treatment as we move into spring offering exfoliation, extractions and a mask – this is ideal if you’re about to hit the beach, wear a low-backed dress or want to deal with skin problems. Arturo has the ethos that clients will leave feeling good about themselves – they will enjoy a relaxing experience, but they will also see results.
It’s a lovely bright space with pale woods giving that all-important connection to nature. My pedicure started with a gentle foot bath, then onto the full feet overhaul – a smoothing of the skin with files, a scrub and then nails were shaped, cuticles sorted, and finally a gel polish applied. I’ve had pedicures before but this was undoubtedly the best – my feet feel silky smooth, my nails are the perfect shape and everything just feels so nice. If there ever was a beauty treatment that was all about self-care, this is it. A good pedicure leaves you feeling lighter somehow. All I need now is a yoga posture to show my feet off with….
