A Village in Your Pocket
A Village in Your Pocket
JJ Club Founder Molly Aldridge on creating the ultimate app for modern family life.
Tell us about yourself – what led you to founding the business?
Becoming a mum to two boys, Jake and Joshua, changed my perspective. I longed for a community and space that catered for the whole family to work, rest and play on our doorstep in SW London. One trusted place where everything came together. That lived experience led me to launch The JJ Club – a members’ club designed to make family life easier through recommendations, meaningful connections, events and exclusive benefits. Our mobile app is exactly that – a village in your pocket – and next year we’ll open our first 30,000 sq ft clubhouse, the cornerstone of our 25,000-strong community.
What makes The JJ Club different to other members’ clubs?
For us, it’s always been about quality and meaningful connections. Every event, every partner and every recommendation is chosen because we genuinely believe it will add value to our members’ lives. The community we’re building is also incredibly important to us. We regularly hear from members who have made lasting friendships through the club, found trusted experts they now rely on or discovered businesses they may never otherwise have come across. Modern luxury isn’t necessarily always about having more things – it’s about having more time, trusted recommendations and experiences that genuinely enrich your life. That’s what we offer through The JJ Club.
What can people get from a membership to The JJ Club?
Through our mobile app, members enjoy a combination of exclusive experiences, practical benefits and access to an incredible network of premium family-focused brands and experts. Every month we host 5 x complimentary events ranging from wellness classes and expert talks to social gatherings, co-working sessions and children’s activities. Alongside this, members receive exclusive perks from 300+ carefully selected partners spanning everything from travel and fashion to education, interiors, fitness and family services. We have also created a Little Black Book of trusted experts so families can receive the support they need across every life stage. The aim is to create a membership that people genuinely use and enjoy regularly throughout the year with the ease of everything being in one place on their mobile phone.
What events can people attend with The JJ Club?
One of my favourite things about the club is the variety of events we offer because no two months ever look quite the same. Our Monthly Meets include everything from Pilates and beauty evenings to stay and plays for tots (with free coffee for parents!). We also host networking events and a bi-annual seasonal celebration which we call ‘A Village on Your Doorstep’ where we bring together over 500 families under one roof to experience everything The JJ Club has to offer. We also work with many of our amazing partners to create a schedule of partner-hosted events that JJ Club members can enjoy with added benefits and extras. Whether someone joins us to learn something new, meet other parents or simply take time for themselves, there’s always something happening.
Tell us about the brands you partner with.
We are incredibly proud of the businesses we work with because every partnership is built on shared values. Our partners range from established luxury brands to brilliant independent businesses, many local and many nationwide. Each is carefully chosen because it offers something genuinely valuable to our members. We look for quality, trust and businesses that understand modern family life. Members can enjoy perks and discounts from Michelin-starred restaurants such as Chez Bruce, local schools including Parkgate House School and Wandsworth Prep, Reformer Collective, Roarsome, TARKA London, Fox & Cubs, Holly & Co, Secret Spa, MORI and HCA Healthcare. Within our Little Black Book, we have trusted experts ranging from wealth managers such as META Advisors to facial aesthetics specialists including Dr Sarah Hughes. The partnerships aren’t simply about offering discounts either – they’re about introducing our members to brands, experts and experiences that we genuinely recommend ourselves. Partners span Kids & Education, Wellness & Beauty, Work & Learn, Food & Drink, Style & Home, and Travel & Culture.
Tell us about the new app – why should people join?
Launching our mobile app has been an incredibly exciting milestone for us as a business because it reflects how much The JJ Club has grown. As our community expanded, we wanted to make everything members love about the club even easier to access. The app brings together our events calendar, exclusive partner benefits and your digital membership card in one beautifully designed space. Whether you’re browsing from the sofa or out and about ready to redeem a member benefit, it’s never been easier to discover everything your membership has to offer and book in just a few taps. Members can now spend less time searching and more time enjoying everything the community has to offer. As The JJ Club continues to grow, we’re excited to open our first 30,000 sq ft flagship clubhouse next year, giving our community a physical home alongside our growing digital membership.
What is your favourite thing about running your own business?
Without question, it’s seeing the impact it has on other people alongside the freedom an entrepreneurial mindset brings. Watching members meet for the first time and become genuine friends, hearing that someone has discovered a business they now couldn’t live without or seeing our partner brands thrive through introductions we’ve made is incredibly rewarding. Building a business can be challenging, but moments like those remind me why I started and continue to inspire everything we do. Winning ‘Best Start-Up Business’ at the Wandsworth Business Awards recently, launching our mobile app this year and opening our first 30,000 sq ft cornerstone clubhouse next year makes the team and I incredibly proud. They each represent important milestones as we continue bringing our vision to life and making a difference to families and the wider community.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
Passion and perseverance are key – not perfection. Don’t wait until everything feels perfect before you begin. It’s easy to think you need every answer before taking that first step, yet building a business is a constant process of learning, pivoting and listening. Some of the best decisions we’ve made have come from feedback from our members and partners rather than ideas we had from the outset. Trust your instincts, stay curious and don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way. Most importantly, remember that building something meaningful and hugely ambitious takes time, and that’s okay.
