Deluxe plant-based dining
Plant-based dining has come a long way in the last few years. Gone are the days of sad plates of wilted veg. New to the list of restaurants that offer elevated and sophisticated dining to vegetarians and vegans is KIN Restaurant, the new plant-based restaurant from the minds behind the popular KIN Café in Fitzrovia. If you’re looking for somewhere meat-free to dine out in style, this is definitely one to book a spot in.
The restaurant was lively and full when my sister and I arrived – always a good sign for a new establishment. We were escorted to our table by friendly and welcoming staff (the service here is honestly excellent) and began with a cocktail each. I opted for an Aperol Spritz, while my sister chose the Bellini. There is also an extensive list of house wines to choose from, but we were in the mood for something a bit extra – and it was worth it. Both drinks were delicious.

The menu offers a selection of appetisers, small plates and large plates. We began with a selection of smaller plates: crispy croquettes served on a bed of butter bean and dill cream, sticky glazed tofu with a cashew-carrot dip, truffle barley risotto and seasoned sautéed mushrooms on sourdough. All were absolutely divine and distinctly flavoured. We both agreed that the highlight dish had to be the sticky glazed tofu – KIN restaurant know exactly how to cook and marinate tofu to the perfect taste and texture, and it paired excellently with the delectable cashew-carrot dip, which was full, rich and creamy.
From the large plate selection, I opted for a special festive twist on their spaghetti dish, with chilli and pumpkin, while after much deliberation my sister chose the ‘tomato trio’ – an artistic plate of gluten-free gnocchi with tomato relish, basil cream, panko-fried green tomatoes and a basil and tomato espuma. Everything was cooked to perfection and vividly great to look at – no boring-looking plates here!
The portions are generous and all dishes delicious. Highly recommended.
