Dr Louise Newson, Panorama, our response

October editions, Dr Louise Newson, Panorama, our response

Following the BBC Panorama programme, The Menopause Uncovered, on Monday 30th September we understand some readers may want further understanding about our interview with Dr Louise Newson in the October edition of Time & Leisure magazine.

Many of our readers are suffering from the impact of menopause so it is a topic we are passionate about. The article highlights the debilitating symptoms menopause can have, the lack of research into menopause and the difficulty of accessing support.

Our qualified journalists have followed the very best journalistic practice in the research, interviewing and writing of this article. As with all of our interviews, the views expressed by the interviewee are quoted as such.

We are aware that many women are upset by the Panorama programme and the lack of representation of the thousands of women her clinic has helped.

It is important that this programme opens a constructive debate rather than shut down the public conversations that (predominantly female) health professionals and high-profile personalities have been holding, helping bring awareness to this important issue of women’s health.
