Luckily for you, that is where we come in, with our expert help and detailed itineraries. Today, we have two fantastic 7-day campervan road trips for you, including a Sydney to the Gold Coast and a Las Vegas to Reno trip. Let us show you what you can see to help you make your decision today.

7-day Sydney road trip

Sydney is one of the best starting points for a road trip, offering stunning coastal scenery, numerous attractions, and unique places to eat and drink. Before you set off, spend some time in Sydney, seeing everything from the Opera House to the art galleries and zoos. If you have time, be sure to climb or walk across the Harbour Bridge, where you can enjoy fantastic views of the city. When you are ready to head off on your road trip, you can enjoy more of the coast, stopping at Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, and the famous Byron Bay before reaching your final destination of the Gold Coast. Follow our itinerary to ensure you don’t miss a single stop:

  • Day 1: Sydney to Newcastle – where you can explore Stockton Beach, Nelson Bay, and other beaches along the Pacific Highway. Newcastle has plenty of cafes, markets, landmarks, and sights that make this industrial town the perfect place to stop. Fort Scratchley and Bogey Hole are some of the top sights to see.
  • Day 2: Newcastle to Taree – allows you to see stunning views of rivers, national parks, forests, and beaches, with plenty of spots to stop and explore on your drive. At Taree, you can explore shops, cafes, museums, and galleries to learn more about the local history and culture. The Apex Lookout and Coorabakh National Park are our favourite spots.
  • Day 3: Taree to Port Macquarie – is home to the Koala Hospital, where you can learn about the facilities on offer and how they care for the koalas, offering rescue yards, treatment rooms, and a safe space for these animals. The scenic waterways and national parks offer a variety of activities to keep your adrenaline levels high, including skydiving, surfing, and boating.
  • Day 4: Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour – where you can enjoy a popular holiday and service centre, famous for its banana plantations. There are fishing opportunities here, mountains to explore, and tanning views across the region, including its breathtaking beaches. Snorkelling and whale watching will keep you busy by the sea, while the national parks provide some greenery and outdoor adventures. Our favourite spots include the Dorrigo National Park and the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park.
  • Day 5: Coffs Harbour to Yamba – allows you to explore the natural beauty at Yamba and its fantastic culture. Rustic riverside shops, beautiful beaches, and busy markets ensure there is something for everyone. Our highlights include the Yamba Lighthouse and the Yuraygir Coastal Walk, which allow you to see more of the coast and its natural wildlife up close.
  • Day 6: Yamba to Byron Bay – takes you to Australia’s easternmost point, where the Cape Byron lighthouse offers stunning views and an opportunity to learn about the maritime history in the area. If you time your visit to Byron, you can enjoy one of the many festivals or gigs that take place. As part of your stop, make sure you check out Tallow Beach.
  • Day 7: Byron Bay to Gold Coast – completes your road trip, where you can enjoy national parks, theme parks, and iconic surf beaches. Our favourite spots on the Gold Coast are Surfers Paradise Beach and Tamborine Mountain.

When planning a road trip in Sydney, we recommend using a campervan to provide you with plenty of comfort and a space to relax and refuel. Travellers Autobarn offer impressive rates and easy campervan hire in Sydney, ensuring your journey begins smoothly.

7-day Las Vegas road trip

Las Vegas is also an excellent place to begin a road trip, where you have plenty of action before slipping into your campervan and driving to find some rest and relaxation. Our 7-day trip takes you to Reno, passing through the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and then to Tonopah, Walker Lake, and Carson City, before returning to Reno. The trip can take anywhere from 5 to 8 days, but we think 7 days is the sweet spot, allowing you plenty of time to see all the attractions without feeling rushed.

When planning your Las Vegas road trip, we believe a campervan is the best option. Not only will you save money on accommodations throughout the trip, but you will also be able to travel at your own pace with all your creature comforts. When hiring a campervan, we recommend Travellers Autobarn, which offers some of the best campervan rates in Las Vegas, along with easy drop-offs and collections. To plan your trip, we recommend the following stops:

  1. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area – where you can enjoy scenic drives, hiking trails, and breathtaking views of the red sandstone formations
  2. Pahrump – has some of the best wineries in the country to explore, where you can enjoy wine tasting sessions and the small-town vibes. The Spring Mountain Motor Resort is another great spot here
  3. Death Valley Junction – is a unique stop, rich with artistic and cultural heritage. Ensure a visit to the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel to see the unique murals up close and even catch a performance
  4. Beatty – is the gateway to one of the hottest places on earth, with attractions including the Beatty Museum and Historical Society and the Goldwell Open Air Museum
  5. Tonopah – is a historic mining town that marks your halfway point. The immersive experiences here allow you to learn more about the mining industry, while its dark skies make this the perfect place to spend the night and stargaze
  6. Walker Lake – provides breathtaking views and a peaceful space to stop and relax. The Lake is a remnant of Lake Lahontan and is perfect for fishing, boating, and bird watching
