Come together for a taste of Lebanon and to raise money for charity
Douk is an indoor food market on Sunday 2 February 2025, from 2-5pm at Comptoir Libanais, Gloucester Road. This is a charitable event organised by a group of Lebanese friends living in London including one of our regular contributors, Angela Zaher. It’s pre-ticketed with each ticket costing £14 each, this includes two food tokens provided on the day which can be redeemed at the chef’s stalls.
The downstairs area of the restaurant will be transformed into a market area showcasing the best of Lebanese cuisine and artisanal products. Traditional home cooked food is on offer alongside dazzling creations using staple Lebanese ingredients. You’ll be stunned by the passion and creativity of their chefs. The food will be ready made, packaged in boxes available for you to enjoy on the premises or at home. The line up of chefs and restaurants taking part so far includes Philip Khoury, Aline Lebanese Kitchen, Toum Rotisserie, Common Breads, Ta’mini, Toum & Tahini, Lina Saad, Salwa London Bakery, Dina Foods and Cakes by Claudine.
“These chefs have worked hard to curate dishes specifically for this event that represent them and Lebanese cuisine as a whole- many come with a personal story, ask them, they’d be happy to share,” says Angela.
There will also be artisan products for sale from Shorkk, Maison Samadi, Amoul and Raghwé. Items such as award winning chocolates, handcrafted labneh balls in jars, premium extra virgin olive oil from Akkar, traditional soaps made by hand and joyful Lebanese artwork from Lilly Morgan Art.
All proceeds from Douk will go to Bedayati.org, a charity which works at the grassroots level to help displaced families in Lebanon and empower marginalised youth and women through skills training.
“On the ground floor of the restaurant, there’s a seating area where our guests can sit down and enjoy the food they’ve purchased together with a drink from the restaurant. Douk’s mission is to promote community ties as well as raise funds for charity, please chat to us, to our chefs, retailers and the other guests, you will find like minded people here.”
