Summer 2024 Beauty Trends

By Layla Fallahi-Alvani

This summer we can expect to see lots of beauty trends based on a combination of looks from the year so far, the trends that resurface every summer season and even a reference to 2000’s make-up styles. Along with our own new twist on everything…

One main trend we can expect to see is ‘Peach Makeup’. This is because Pantone announced ‘Peach Fuzz’ as its colour of the year. In addition to this, summer is the time of warmth and sun which is embodied in this shade. As a result the warmth in the colour resonates with the season. Furthermore, peach makeup is also very minimalistic looking which is a recurring summer trend.

Another big trend that we will see this summer is ‘Pearl Skin’. This is based on numerous factors. One key one is the use of highlighter and the glowy look of summer. However, normally this means warm tones which are generally associated with the season, whereas pearl skin is cool toned. It creates an angelic or even extra-terrestrial vibe if done correctly. Pearl skin is also heavily influenced by the Korean skincare trend known as ‘Glass Skin’. Glass skin is smooth, dewy, and so clear that it even looks reflective and occasionally translucent giving it a glasslike effect.

This summer we can expect to move away from the typical mascara look. This is going in two very different, extreme yet gorgeous ways. One being a minimal mascara look, this is inspired by the Netflix hit tv show Bridgerton. It is also based on the extremely popular ‘Clean Girl’ makeup over the past few years. This look includes glowy skin and a minimal appearance including the lack of a bold dark lash.

On the other hand however, another alternative eye makeup trend is coloured mascara. This is usually done according to the colour of one’s eyes to make them pop and complement them best. For example people with blue eyes have been wearing red or burgundy mascaras and those with brown eyes wearing green or even blue. This could be the burst of colour you wish to include in your looks this summer!
