Review: Covent Garden’s El Ta’Koy

Covent Garden’s most delicious hidden gem

Natasha Berman reviews Hawaiian food and tiki delights at El Ta’koy

Nestled in Covent Garden, El Ta’koy is a Hawaiian street food hotspot perfect for weekend brunches, taco Tuesday’s, or an essential margarita moment. This hidden gem offers a delightful experience with its intimate setting and exceptional cuisine.

We opted for their bottomless tacos and margaritas, which are available from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM Sunday through Thursday. This summer must-try is just £35 per head, where you have an hour to enjoy as many tacos as you’d like. The options include: kalua pork with pineapple and sour cream, chicken annato with chipotle agave, lamb barbacoa with cilantro and lime cream, and el vegetariano with roasted mushrooms and vegan kimchi. For an additional £5, you can enjoy the mouth-watering ahi tuna poke tacos with furikake and wasabi mayonnaise.

Complementing the delicious food, El Ta’koy’s unlimited and unbeatable classic margaritas are made with tequila blanco and fresh lime juice. Feeling adventurous? Upgrade to a spicy or pineapple margarita for an extra treat.

Our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We started with one of each taco, sampling the delicious variety. Once we tried each, we quickly had our favourites—mushroom and chicken—delivered again. The tacos were flavourful and high-quality, and the margaritas were consistently refilled, both classic and pineapple varieties, adding to the enjoyment of the meal.

The service was outstanding; the staff were accommodating and focused on ensuring a pleasant dining experience. El Ta’koy is a must-visit spot for summer evenings, book your reservation here
